La selección hace historia y se proclama campeona del mundo por primera vez en su historia con un gol de Andrés Iniesta que jamás olvidaremos.
El partido fue muy duro, sobretodo por la dureza de las entradas de los holandeses encabezadas por Van Bommel, eso provocó que España no pudiera desarrollar su gran juego.
Empezamos como el día de Alemania, los primeros 15 minutos tuvimos 2 o 3 ocasiones claras, pero Holanda reaccionó y se colocó bien en el campo y empezó a dar patadas sin sentido. Algunos jugadores holandeses, como Van Bommel y De Jong merecieron la expulsión, pero el inglés Howard Webb inexplicablemente le sacó amarilla.
En la segunda parte España bajó el listón y Holanda tuvo varias ocasiones. Del Bosque sacó a Navas para que buscara a Van Bronckhorst que tenía tarjeta. Se cumplieron los 90 minutos reglamentarios y el marcador reflejaba un 0-0, había prórroga. En la prorroga España domino y tuvo varias ocasiones clarísimas. Hasta que en el minuto 116 el futbol fue justo. Torres centra, despeja la defensa holandesa, Cesc coje el balón, la pasa a Iniesta para que fusile al portero holandés. En ese momento todo el mundo fue a tirarse enzima de Andrés Iniesta (incluido todo el banquillo) menos Iker que se puso a llorar en la porteria de emoción.
Y este mundial es para todos aquellos jugadores y aficionados que vieron como se quedavan a las puertas de semifinales.
Hemos echo historia, ayer todo el mundo se rindió a los pies de la selección. Y ahora tenemos una estrellita en el escudo, esperemos sumar muchas más en los proximos años.
